so I just got my 12 Ga pump! Love it!!! But my problem is with it being a Rock Island, theres not many accessories. I want a side saddle for it. do they make a universal saddle for 12 ga pumps? I suppose I could put one on the stock but I like the side mount ones alot. Maybe both? Just wanna be extra prepared :)

The 3gungear approach might work... http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Side-Saddle-c27/ . It uses Velcro, and they have a cut-to-fit backer and will make a custom shell holder to fit for you.

The Rock Island is basically a copy of the old High Standard riot gun, with a second action bar added - one of the slickest pumpgun actions of all time. Which finish is yours, and how smoothly finished was the mechanism it out of the box? If you point the muzzle straight up (gun empty, hammer cocked) and hit the action release button, will the action fall all the way open?

A full blown review of it would be nice...

Yeah, I would strongly recommend the velcro side-saddle solution. It is a simple and convenient solution that gives you a lot more options. Don't want a side saddle today? No problem, just take it off. Need to reload and already used up everything in the side-saddle? No problem, rip it off and put another one on, then reload. All your side-saddles empty? Load them all OFF the gun for safety, then put them on and load the gun.

There are other options as to where to get them. SOE gear sells them for cheaper, but without the gun-specific backer:

As they say, just go buy your own adhesive backed velcro at the hardware store and cut it to fit yourself. Definitely a cheaper option if you are buying multiple cards. (Make sure to chose the 6 shot card instead of the 5!)

The cheapest option I have found though is from Maxpedition:

However, you have no color choices at all from them. But if you are happy with the color they offer then that is definitely the way to go.

If accessories are your thing then a more common shotgun like an 870 or mossberg 500 would have been a better choice. Not that I think the M5 is a bad gun (I really don't know) but just that there are accessories for those guns.

Shell holders aren't a bad way to go. Beyond that just shoot the gun a lot and if you can go take a shotgun course and find out where you really think the gun needs improvement.

The accessory most needed now for you is ammo.

Shoot it plenty. When the figurative pile of empties reaches your shins, you'll know what it and you need and what's just bling.

A shell holder, a cheap black one that goes over the stock works fine, and a nice leather sling are all that's ever really gonna be needed in my opinion.
