Shot timer for dry fire?

Has anyone found a shot timer that works well for dry firing? I haven't had any success with the IPSC timer I downloaded. I realize the click is not very loud, maybe too faint to ever work compared to the sound of background noise or the gun being pulled out of a holster, etc.

I don't mind buying a timer, but I'd like to know before hand if I'd be wasting money.

I have a PACT club timer III

I dry fire tested it just now by starting the timer and dry firing my Glock, Ruger Redhawk, 22/45, 1911, 870, and Colt AR-15. All guns were about 12" away from the timer.

The AR was the only gun that made a loud enough *click* when dry fired to register on the PACT.

If I recall correctly, there is a way to adjust the sensitivity of the PACT so it will pick up rim-fires and suppressed guns better. I am sure it could be made sensitive enough to pick up dry firing but then it would be picking up other noise as well. I have never tried to adjust mine.

I have no affiliation with PACT. I just really like this timer!

It would be easier to use the par time feature (count down) than the acoustical one.
Set the par time and try to beat it with draw and fire, for example.
