Shot the new sig and . . .

Shooters:

I picked up the new Sig P238 today. Put 100 rounds of 90gr PMC through it and so far am well pleased. No FTE. No FTF. It feels solid in my hands. Because it is so small I abandon the shooting gloves and shot it bare handed. The recoil is not onerous. The cases ejected almost straight back and I had several bounce of my chest. The gun came with one six round mag, a gun lock and the real serendipity is a neat little holster that should work just fine for out side of waist band carry. It is single action but I knew that when I bought it. Although I think I'd rather it be double action. I'd be more comfortable carrying it with "one in the pipe" and the hammer down. But to do that you'd have to cock the hammer before you could fire. It is designed to be carried with "one in the pipe" the hammer cocked and the safety on. Hmmmmmmm . . . . .

I've attached two pics below. The gun and then the last six of the 100 rounds I put through it today. I as shooting from about seven yards.

I'm going to enjoy shooting this gun more. It strikes me as this is a gun to take to range and have fun with and not just hold in reserve as a CCW.

Live well, be safe

Are you having same heavy trigger pull I do with mine. I love it but trigger is heavy enough to make me pull left. I use a little Kentucky wind age and hold farther right but don't like too. Small enough to conceal anywhere and like you said recoil almost non existent. The p290 has a great trigger. I can't find a Smith to lower this one. Running about 7 pounds. Been carrying a month or 2 locked and loaded. No issues with safety. I had one 7 round mag and one 6. Great night sights. Feels like holding mini 1911.

I have a 238- and it's been an absolute joy. The safety doesn't offer much resistance when flicked off (hafta do something about that one of these days). The trigger pull is wonderful on mine. I haven't put a scale on mine yet, but it's not heavy at all.

I have the P238 and P938. No problems with either one. The safeties on both are very stiff they have a definite positions for on or off. My only complaint is the trigger pull is heavy and long. Maybe for a defense firearm this is desirable.

Of course it is, you'll come to appreciate that, I think.

Seems like a lovely little pistol. I can't imagine it being easy to learn to shoot, but it looks like a nice package to me. Congratulations!

Believe it or not a number of highly successful pistols are designed in such a manner. You may even have heard of one designed by John Moses Browning.
