Riflemen:
I shot my new Henry 22 LR today. Very nice action. Shoot at about 20 yards it was grouping about 5-7 inches to the left. Got it moved over to about two inches off sight to the right. Will work on it more later. Put 75 rounds through it without a hitch. Truly fun gun. Shooting open sights off a sand bag I did manage to get one group of five that was smaller than a nickel, but my groups of 15 were palm sized or a touch larger. I resist the idea of putting a scope on it. Just seems wrong for a lever action. I have a scope on my Henry Golden in 45 LC and it just seems wrong.

Fun fun fun, love mine.

Two words of caution. Don't short stroke it (jams are difficult to fix) and don't reinsert a dud round in the tube. It jams the action.

HiViz makes a fiber front sight for the 22. I'm debating getting one.

I've heard that Henrys don't do very well with scopes because the receiver is actually a thin cover and it can move around a bit. Is that true?

You post is the first I've heard of this problem. I have a sight on my Henry Golden in 45 LC. The rifle comes tapped for a scope mount. It groups okay at fifty and 100 yards but I'm still learning the gun and experimenting with ammo.

Sounds like you got things under control there Prof Young. I suppose like any other rifle different ammo extermination is perhaps required to see your new rifles tightest grouping over time. You and I are on the same page about scoping a lever. It just plain doesn't look right. I even went so far as to remove a scope from my preferred walk-about rifle 300 Savage. Looks far more appealing now then before. <No doubt about that. Anyway is your 22 Henry a blued or a bass model?

The receiver does have a cover but it is securely mounted. Mine doesn't have any movement in it but it doesn't have a scope either.

I have a scope on mine and it does fine. No movement of any kind.

Most fun rifle I have ever had. Slickest and smoothest action possible.

No. We have two of them with scopes and we have had no issues at all like that.

The Hi Viz front sight is a great addition to the Henry if you are shooting with iron sights. I also put a Skinner aperture sight in place of the Henry stock sight and the gun shoots fantastic.

Hey Sure Shot . . .

Sure Shot:
My Henry 22LR is blued.
My Henry 45LC is brass with the octagonal barrel. Heavy gun.
