One of these will be riding in my back pocket as soon as the dust and the first run foul ups clear.

The photo is not an MP9... or PM9. It is an existing Kahr P9 Covert, which is shown clearly by the model number on the tag. If you own one, you'll recognize it immediately. The photo is not a new gun.

slide and frame sure look chopped to me. notice the difference between the distance from the serial number i.d. tag to the end of the frame dust cover.

tag lists it as the PM9093A as opposed to the KPS9093A listed on the Kahr web site as the current 9mm covert.

see above

also barrel is listed as 3 inches.

From Kahr web site

Riddle, I'm the guy that said that. But that was only a guess. None of the guys at Kahr would say a thing to me about a .45. (But they do have that big 9mm) :)

The PM9 is real, as is the PM40. They were there. In fact there were some set aside in the new product section, and some moron had spilled coffee all over the .40. These are truly small guns.

And if you guys are interested, there was a prototype for a REALLY small 9mm from a new little company called Rohrbaugh (sp?). It was about the size of a NAA guardian, and very very nice.

riddle: My apologies - you are correct. I guess it was late and I was confused by the model number similarity - not to mention the striking resemblance to the Covert. A stupid blunder on my part - Of course I should have known better since the entire Kahr line so crisply distinguishes one model from the other ;)

They probably didn't have time before the show to make slides with the mew number, which would presumably be MP-9, but the slide sure looks shorter than the P9 covert. I hope the polymer frame problems are resolved, because I want one now!

"I think this is the lower limit for a useable 9mm. Imagine the recoil from a +P+ through this thing. Ouch!"

Right.....now imagine it in .40...Yowzie!

I'm in the market for one of these babies, but may stick with the P40 Covert instead of waiting for something I may never want to shoot. If I decide to drop to 9mm I'll go with the (considerably less expensive) Kel-Tec P-11. I've got a little P-32 and it's a thing of beauty.

Anyone who wants to unload their MK40 for one of these ... please contact me :D

(at a good price ... good for me anyway ;) )

I don't think the PM9 will be any worse to shoot than the Kel-Tec P11 (recoil wise), or that the PM40 will be any worse than the Kel-Tec P40 was. In fact, the PM9 will be 0.3" shorter length, 0.3" shorter height, and 0.1" shorter width. They are both probably around the same weight (14 oz., plus ammo).

For this "marginally" better size, you get:

- Pros: striker fired, better trigger
- Cons: 2 finger grip, 4 less rounds, several hundred more $$$ (thanks labman)

Personally, I'd say its a toss-up. It's no secret that both Kel-Tec and Kahr polymer pistols have been known to have hiccups. I won't be running out to get one.

I had enough problems with my P40. I'll keep the mk40 they replaced it with. I'll take the mk40's off your hands though.
