Shot my 340PD....

...and was pleasantly surprised with it's accuracy at 5 & 7 yards. Shot a full box of 38's and then a couple boxes of 9mm through my P239 and USPc, followed by a full cylinder of the Gold Dot 357 Mags (short barrel/135 gr). Honestly, I'd have to say, bearable for a SD situation - but not what I'd want to rely on any speed for follow-ups....OUCH!! But a nice alternative for the warm summer months when I live in shorts and t-shirts/tank tops - slips right into my pocket.

Nice. I envy you, I've wanted one since I first saw them but haven't been able to bring myself to get one. So, let's see some pics!

Here ya go...

The front sight was acceptable....but that's part of the reason for the Crimson Trace.

Honestly, with those 135 gr Gold Dot's the little gun becomes a fire breathing dragon, and I found follow ups a bit slower between recoil and loss of sight picture.

340PD with LOCK REMOVED

My everyday carry for the past five years, although I have been shooting J Frames for about forty years.

I have carried the Speer 135gr SB .357s for a long time, but recently began carrying the +P version when I couldn't find any 357s. The +Ps seem to be extremely effective in this loading from all the reports I have read.

Not a 340PD.....but a 340M&P! (no-lock)
I prefer the .38+P 135gr Speer Gold Dot (short barrel) ammo
or...
Speer Gold Dot 135gr .357magnum ammo.

Buffalo Bore .38+P LSWCHP in 158gr is also a hard hitter.
Love my Glock 26...but the 340 can go anywhere....even jogging with me, with no belt! (Remora IWB)

I have an M&P 340

and a big question for you with these Fiber-optic or Big Dot sights.

What's the proper sight picture with both of these non-standard sights?

Is it the same as usual: line up the top of the dot / Fiber optic housing with the top of the rear notch?

Or is it: the dot/fiber optic will protrude above everything else in the sight picture? (shotgun bead style)

I apologize for the hijack, I have been shooting low with 125 grain reloads and wanted to confirm if there was a second variable responsible other than light bullet weight.

DYL--they're probably still regulated for 158 grain bullets. Try those and see if you don't hit POA.

OP: Nice gun! I sold my airlight revolver after 25 rounds of .357 Fiocchi. I vowed that I'd never be that mean to myself again. .38s, in that size revolver, provides all the KO I need for anything I'd care to shoot with one. I agree that the double tap is not really going to happen. The .38s weren't to bad, but an airweight was slightly heavier and I can go through 100 rounds of .38 with no ill after effects. Those fiber optic sights are pretty cool.

Very nice pics, thanks for posting. Is it just me, or do others prefer the looks of the PD's more than the MP's? Great choice on the grips, btw. When I was shopping for a pair to put on my Airweight, I held a MP wearing the model of CT you have. They are extremely comfortable and I'm sure they help with the heavy slap on the hand those get. I went with the exposed back strap model but WHEN I finally get a 340, I'll those grips the same day.
