Just got back from the shooting range. I was trying out some different
style guns for about 90 minutes.

22 Ruger Semi Auto Mark II (rental) - really nice target gun.
38 Taurus Snubnose (borrowed) - yuck! By the Way really yuck yuck!
45 Colt 1911 - My buddy's (Topspin43) brand new - a real gem! He only let me take 10 shots but that's ok it was his first day with his new baby!!
22 Ruger Cowboy 6 1/2 -loved it!! took only 5 shots as a guy there let me use his. I love the double click when you pull on the hammer and I could shoot all day comfortably with it for about 20 Bucks.

After shooting went right to the counter to look at a new one. I think I'm in love.

Looked at a 22lr Ruger Traget Pistol with Fluted 6 inch barrel $499 and Ruger 22lr Cowboy gun brushed stainless $423 cherry wood grips.

Any opinions on this gun!
:D

Maxxim - beleive it or not wife finally said ok. I love her!

I have the New Single Six 4" blued gun. I love the cowboy action although the Ruger Mark II is sharp looking too, but hate the thought of trying to clean it. Only takes a few minutes to clean the revolver. :)

Search Ruger MK II and/or Single Six for volumes on either gun. (They are probobly the two most talked about handguns over at RimFireCentral too.) If you look, there are lots of clean used ruger rimfire pistols around. FWIW, you could own a nice used MK II AND a single six for $500.

There is absolutely no way I would ever pay $400 and $500 for a new Ruger .22lr handgun. You can find them all day long used for $200 to $300 just about everywhere.

The fluted 6" barrel sounds like the new "hunter"

If it is, The trigger wont be as good as the MKII you tried out. I've got one and I like it alot. But I was dissapointed with the trigger. I like my MKII much more(For half the price, live and learn I guess)
You should be able to find a new MKII for well under $300

To me, single-action .22s are a lot more fun than the autoloading variety. A single action rimfire revolver is just about as much fun as you can have with a firearm. As a bonus, you can use .22 Shorts, CBs, or primer-only Colibri loads in a revolver...most autos won't feed or cycle the specialty loads.

I agree about a lot of used ones around about a year ago I tried to get rid of mine.Every where I went, wanted to trade it they all said about the same "SORRY WE HAVE THREE OR FOUR IN STOCK".Couldn't get rid of it to save my Butt. Finally a friend bought it from me, sold it just to get rid of it.There was nothing wrong with the gun other than ME ever have a gun no matter how you try you just can't shoot the thing.Anyone pick it up it would shoot dead on when I shot it looked like a shotgun. And it's not the SA have 3 Blackhawks I shoot very well
