runt got a "scatterized" 1187P recently. Up to now, the only 1187P I've fired was a 21" rifle sight version owned by another TFLer. This gun has an 18/5" barrel with Remchokes and ghost right sights.
Functioning: 100%, even with promotional loads which tie up some pumps. Fired about 50 rounds of birdshot, 50 buck and 10 slugs, no failures to function.
Recoil: heavier than with the 21" version but not painful, even with slugs (2 3/4").
Sights: slower to acquire than bead or rifle type, but far more accurate than either. Worked well on long shots for trap, not so well for close-up.
Chokes: came with modified, great for long range.
Patterning: fairly consistent patterns with bird and buck, exceptionally tight (under 2" at 20ft) with Estate 8-ball.
Had to move the sight to the side to get slugs to hit at point of aim. Point of impact for slugs and shot seem very similar.
Fit and finish is very good except for the reciever group (wobbly). Overall, a handy weapon.
