Shopping today - price check on Sig 226

I was looking at a brand spanking-new Sig 226 today for $599. Is this a good price?

I'm trying to make up my mind on the 226, 225 or the 245. I'll eventually have all three, but one at a time.....

Thanks for the anticipated help.

I bought a like new 226 with 100 rounds fired thru it for $550. At a recent gun show, I saw a new 226 for $619 (in NC). The 225 and 226 both shoot very similarly, and are some of the best in their class. I personally got the 226 first because they are not producing many at all due to LE contracts, and the 226 can hold 15 rounds (I even have the SIG 20rd clip for the 226.) Either way, you can't lose on a SIG. They are great pistols. Looks like you saw a pretty good price.

OK, I did it....bought the Sig 226. Now I have to endure the agonizing 10-dy wait here in the PRK. No pistol has ever fit my hand like this one so I had to have it. Any recommendations on some nice break-in ammo?

Thanks

Noban,

Don't feel too bad about the 10 day wait. You have it easy- I have to wait 3 weeks in Hawaii.

Plus this new re-registration bill (I think passed) will require me to re-register my guns every 5 years.

Plus, there's a bill that would make gun owners to submit some type of registration form to buy ammo. This would prove that you legally own a gun of the caliber that's the same as the ammo your buying.

Should I go on with more bright ideas? How bout the gun storage bill. Yea, forcing gun owners to store their guns in an immovable safe.

Wonder if the Mainland will ever follow Hawaii on the pain in the a$$ laws?

Dave

Congrats on your purchase. If the gun fits your hand well price shouldn't be too much of a factor and $599 isn't too bad; I've seen them new for as much as $650. As far as ammo is concerned, the P226 likes pretty much anything. One of my friends had an ammo container of various 9mm rounds he'd collected and dumped into the can. I loaded FMJ, JHP's, Black Talons, Winchester Silver tips, Hydrashoks; all fed fine, even with mixed rounds in the mags. I usually use American Eagle, Speer, and Blazer, but it depends if your pistol will be picky. 10-day wait sucks, but it will definitely be worth it, kind of like saving dessert for last. Have fun.
