Huge shootout going on in my hometown as we speak. Hundreds of rounds fired 4 streets over from me about an hour ago, multiple explosions (news reporting grenades or IED's). Literally a warzone, absolutely crazy. One officer killed at MIT campus, a good friend of mine who is an LEO was on the scene and the officer died in his arms. Kind of surreal this is hitting so close to home. News reporting could potentially be Boston Marathon bombing suspects, police scanners are saying they are now looking for the suspect identified in the marathon photos in the white hat. One suspect apprehended, the other still on the loose and officers are doing door to door searches. Sure glad I have enough guns for my whole family.

I thought grenades were illegal. That should have stopped the bad guys from getting them.

In all seriousness, I've been reading about it, and a very scary situation. Stay safe...keep us informed.

They confirmed the explosives were pressure cooker bombs similar to what was used in the marathon bombing, the suspects were throwing them from the car at officers while being chased. They found an un-detonated one about 5 minutes from me and are bussing people in that neighborhood out of the area so the bomb squad can come in.

The other is apparently still in Watertown, police and federal agents swarming like angry bees.

Oh yeah, armored vehicles, local police, state police, and FBI are all over the place.

The perps are brothers from Chechnya. So much for the home grown terrorist trash some media panjandrums have peddled.
 
The two guys involved in the shootout have been named and identified as brothers and are indeed the bombing suspects. They are from Chechnya....foreign terrorists
I guess the msm is really down and crestfallen now that the terrorists are not some white, right wing guys that they had been hoping for.
Prayers out for the dead officer's family!
 
This isn't gun-related, which is a requirement for threads in this subforum. The potential civil-rights implications are under discussion here.
