Looking for a good shotgun vest. Left handed.
I will be using it for trap & skeet, evenually sporting clays. What should I be looking for? I live in Southern Florida. Thanks

wirenut,
I use a BOB ALLEN shooting vest for trap and sporting clays. It is very lightweight, which would be good for you in Florida. It has a decent pad, and nice shell pockets that hold plenty of ammo. I just bought a new one a few weeks ago. You won't belive this.... left handed! I'm a righty, so I ordered a new one and will sell the lefty at a shoot this spring. (rather than pay the return shipping). I ordered "L" for LARGE. They must have thought "L" was for left.... Anyway, for the price, they work good and are very comfortable! By the way... What size do you wear??......

sorry,
it's a large, and they are made a little big.
you don't want one too big because the gun may get hung up when you shoulder it. I wouldn't want you to have the wrong equipment. It makes for a terrible day of shooting! By the way, it is drab green. And I paid around $50.00 for it shipping and all. SORRY!!!

I have a Bob Allen like the one you describe. It is starting to fall apart, seams are starting to come open and it is kind of ragged, but it is comfortable. Been using it since '94.

I suppose one of those fancy British vests with the leather pads and trim would be more appropriate, but the cheap Bob allen vest just seems to be more comfortable. Only problem is, I can't wear it when it is cold.

Comfort is important.

Yea I know what you mean. I replace my vest every other year. I just like the weight and appearance of the Bob Allen. As far as COLD goes, my clay season ends in Nov. so I just wear a heavy sweatshirt under it. If I shot all winter long I would have to invest in a warmer one!!! I don't worry about how much my stuff costs, My cheap vest and custom 1100 Rem. have sent many Brownings and Berettas home UPSET! Find a gun, vest, and safety equipment that fits good and you like, and kick some butt!!

Gamaliel carrys a good selection of shooting vests. I got a Chamiere for about $50...it was a little more than the regular price as I had to order a 3XL. I think they start at around $45 and are nice because they have a built in hull holder in the back like a game pocket. Regards, Mikey.
