Shooting Uberti's Remington Revolving Carbine

In this video I'll be shooting a replica of Remington's model 1866 revolving rifle. The replica is a carbine made by Uberti and imported by Taylor's & Company. The Remington revolving carbine is a .44 caliber, cap and ball weapon based on Remington' New Model Army pistol, often erroneously called the 1858 Remington.

Nice video but these guns just do not do it for me. I don't know why. Probably because of the strange way you have to hold them.

They're actually comfortable to grip. I grip mine with the web of my left hand (between my thumb and index finger) on the trigger guard spur, pull back and wrap that hand around my right hand. Holds incredibly steady.

Great video and an interesting piece. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Mike, for another great video! I'm tellin ya though, you Sir are a BAD influence on my pocket book!! :D Very Nice piece there though. Do you plan to do a video with some form of Conical to see how it does?

carbine vs attachable stock???

OK Now I know the answer is get both of them..

But I have been toying with either the Uberti Remington carbine or getting one of the long barreled Remington pistols (Pietta Army Buffalo) with the attachable stock..

Would any of you like to recommend one system over the other...

As I see it if I get the attachable stock I can attach it to other Remington copies (shorter barrels) for additional carbine looks...

And thanks Mike for forcing me to deal with this issue after watching that fine video.. Now I have to get one to...

I recommend the carbine over the buffalo. The carbine is lighter and more elegant. Also, the buffalo model sold in the USA comes with a brass frame or a stainless steel frame. You won't want to go putting 40 gr of black powder in the brass frame one, uses 20-24 grains at the most if you don't want to damage the frame. The plus with the brass frame buffalo and shoulder stock is the looks of it. It is pretty! And the shoulder stock for the 1858 buffalo will also fit the 1851 colt (at least my stock does anyway).

As I see it if I get the attachable stock I can attach it to other Remington copies (shorter barrels) for additional carbine looks...

To attach a shoulder stock, any gun will have to have the notch cutout on the metal bottom of the grip frame. Not all colt and remington clones have the cutout. The 1858 buffalo models do.

carbine

bought the Uberti Remington carbine last sept / October.
First load was conicals, quite accurate.
I rarely use round balls anymore.
Yes it is different holding it, but as said above, actually quite steady
Makes for a good medium range outfit.
Will have to take new pics. Lost the ones I had when computer totally
crashed and had to replace.

Cool. Nice weapon and great shooting. What distance were you shooting from? If distance was mentioned, I missed it. Again, great shooting with an interesting gun. Thanks for the video.
