Well, I took my new used Bulgarian Makarov to the range today. To make a long story short, I was pretty impressed.
The only decocker I've ever owned is a little Bersa .380. Qualified with the M9 for 10 years, but never owned one. The little 9x18 reminds me of the .380 very much. But the weapon itself is a lot more gun than the Bersa. I do not really like light handguns for some reason. Maybe I connote light with cheap. I know, but I can't help it. This Bulgie is inexpensive, but cheap it ain't.
I picked it up for $135 from jcarmory.com and when all was said and done, with shipping and FFL at my end, it came to $154. Not bad. Two 8 rnd mags and the mil holster with cleaning rod. Fixed sights.
At the range I didn't really try hard for accuracy, but it put all 8 rnds in a circle the size of a coffe cup at ten steps. I think it's probably more accurate than that.
Neat pistol! Great value!
