Shooting the Lyman Model of 1878 Sharps rifle and tang sight set

The Lyman Model of 1878 rifle and sight package commemorates the year William Lyman invented the company's signature tang-mounted aperture sight. The rifle itself is a replica of the Sharps model 1877, and Pedersoli in Italy builds it. The Model 1877 Sharps had a much lighter, more graceful lock and action than the more common Model 1874. The model 1877 Sharps was built specifically to conform to international long-range rifle shooting rules, as laid down by the British NRA for their national range at Wimbledon. The United States National Rifle Association's national range at the time was in Creedmoor, New York, so these are often called Creedmoor Rules here in America.

This is one of the most beautiful looking and accurate Sharps rifle replicas that I've fired.

Dennis Prisbry has an article on it in the new issue of "Guns of the Old West", and I'll have an article on it in the March 2014 issue of "Rifle Firepower" magazine.

Mike,

I have an 1874 Sharps from Navy Arms Pedersoli and I love it. But I have to agree that better sights would improve my shooting.

I like the sights on my Trapdoors better than the original Pedersoli sights.

WOW that thing is AWSOME!! Thanks for doing the video Mike!

This rifle will sure open up the options for the 77 sharps. Very good deal compared to Shiloh's...and Shiloh still hasn't gotten any made up yet for delivery.

Anyone wanting a 1877 Sharps...this is a great one to look at. Pedersoli makes a great rifle!!! And for $1400 this even opens up the options to buy one and have it rebarreled with a heavy competion grade barrel and in any caliber.

Mike,

Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed all your vids. Thanks for the effort to post and share your knowledge, it's much appreciated.

I love this rifle.
I have an Italian clone sharps as well and can't get enough of it.
Great video, keep them coming sir.

You know I could say that it’s too beautiful to shoot,,, but we all know that that is illegal under federal law.;)
I WANT one!
