Shooting schedules?

Do most of you hold to regular shooting sessions or just take it as you get it?
I religously go out on Sundays and meet with my buddies at the Shooting Club and I try to get out shooting Wednsday or Friday.
It seems if I go more often, I get burnt out and start just throwing lead. If I hold to my sceadule I get more benifit and actually shoot better.
I don't shoot in competition so it's just relaxing to me, however if I shot in competition I'd try for every other day, shorter timed sessions. Maybe I'd get it all better under control that way?
How bout you folks how often do you get out shootin?

Not really and schedule, we have a monthly BP shoot, but I shoot by myself one to several times a month, just pistol....when the muse strike's, or sometimes after working on improving a gun. It's nice to practice form and the slow process of loading make's my bp shooting seem more important than shooting my cartridge gun's. I can go through a box of 38's or 357's in the time it takes to fir 2- 3 cylinder's of my 44's and it doesn't really teach me anything...happen's too fast for my addled brain to take note's.

I shoot CAS matches three or four weekends a month. Weather dependent. Also try to shoot an out of state match once a month from Mar to Oct. Other than that, I'll get to the range to try out a new gun or some loads once or twice a month. Since Jan, I've gone through around 700 .380 roundballs, 500 .38 cal BP cartridges, 1200 BP 44-40 rounds, and 500 BP 12 ga rounds.

My wife and I shoot sporting clays every Saturday, just for fun. Most Thursdays we shoot small bore metallic silhouettes. I shoot Steel Challenge on Mondays. Then there's fun stuff whenever we can squeeze it in. Mondays and Thursdays I usually pack one of the black powder revolvers for a little fun shooting after the match. What I'd really love to do would be to shoot cap and ball in the Steel Challenge matches (they have a cowboy gun class), but the loading process is just too slow to keep from being a bottleneck.

I go out on the Sunday shoot to try and keep an edge on reloading (Pratice maes you get faster!) and spraying balls all over paper... Some regularity helps me a lot!
The odd days I fit in, really helps too! You pick-up on your dextarity and BP shooting is just FUN!
I agree, you guys who shoot regular Matches get the best pratice! You're out there in the mix and there pressure is on! you get the advantage of workng under pressure!
I wish I had all my gear together and could shoot CAS, but finances and a fixed income holds me back! I'll get it all together one day!

What is it about Sundays ??

I use to belong to an informal club and we also shot on Sundays. We had Turkey shoots about three times a year. Some of us shot CAS when It wasn't known as CAS but that was a long time ago. Then there were the rendezvous but again, that was a long time ago. We stil have a regional informal rendezvous of sorts, in October where we mostly shoot M/L's. The host supplies the meat for the main dinner and the rest of us bring whatever?? ... ;)

Be Safe !!!

I have found it to be a lot more fun if instead of three or four of us shoot individual targets, we all shoot at one target, to see who can get closest to a dime circle in the middle.
Nobody in this forum probably gambles, but we shoot for 50 cents a round, and each target gets one shot each. Closest to the circle gets the money.
This not only seems to be more fun, but also helps to keep your barrel cooled between shots.
I find just shooting at the same target by myself gets pretty hum-drum, but by doing it this way, it seems to keep everyone focused, and having a good time also.
This also lets 3 or 4 of us use the same bench so we are not crowding out other shooters.
