Shooting on BLM Land

I researched this on the internet, and I found that one can shoot on Burea of Land Management land in the state of California, as long as you follow the rules.

So just to double check, is this still legal? And what are the rules one must follow?

I left CA back in '82, when the laws were just becoming onerous. So I could very well be wrong in what I'm about to say...

It is my understanding that the BLM follows state (gun) law(s) just like the USFS. This means that if it is legal to tote and shoot in National Forests in your state, then it's legal on BLM ground.

At least, that's the way it works up here in Idaho. Being as your in CA, it could well be different. Best to check with the local authorities in the area you are interested in shooting.

CobrayCommando,
The BLM has designated shooting areas, so make sure you call and get info before you head out.

Also if you have any "Assault Rifles" registered or otherwise don't bring em into BLm land, as they will take them in the blink of an eye. Something about they only manage the land, and sometimes your on private property other places are either Fed or State land.

Good Luck!
