Shooting my S&W Model 12,,,

A friend of mine recently gave me 400 + rounds of hand-loaded 38 special,,,
They are wadcutter plinking rounds made by his deceased father,,,
I knew the gentleman and trust his hand-loads explicitly.

What a perfect opportunity to dust off Eleanor, my S&W Model 12. :)

I shot the first few rounds through my S&W Model 15,,,
Just to gauge what the recoil would be like,,,
They truly were light loads after all.

Then I put 10 cylinders downrange through Eleanor,,,
What a sweet shooting handgun she is.

I had no problem keeping all of my shots in a respectable group.

I tell you good people,,,
If (when) Oklahoma gets open carry,,,
I might start packing that lightweight honey myself.

I've always enjoyed shooting Eleanor,,,
But with normal factory FMJ rounds,,,
Her recoil can be a bit snappy.

Hello h518may,,,

I name all of my handguns,,,
Even though a lot of people here deride me for it.

If Davy Crocket could name his rifle,,,
We can name our guns.

Hello Mike,,,

I have a Model 12 snub square butt. It's a hoot to shoot.

<Sarcastic Humor> Is there a S&W revolver you don't own? </Sarcastic Humor)

I only bought her because of a serendipitous situation,,,
I walked into The Evil Pawn Shop with disposable money in the bank,,,
The Evil Pawn Shop Guy held her right in front of my eyes and cruelly tempted me.

She was so darned pretty,,,
I think I must have blonde roots,,,
I do have a tendency to like shiny things.

But seriously she's so lightweight,,,
If I was in a position to carry a full size handgun,,,
I honestly believe Eleanor would be in a Tom Threepersons on my hip.

I don't name my guns, though.

And that's why your guns will never love you like mine love me. :p

I'm not sure about naming guns.

I have one that I named, it's my bolt .22 lr squirrel gun. It is known by the joking nickname of "squirrelnator."

The only other person I know if that named his guns was a badly damaged young man who owned swords and guns, and he had some name drawn out of nerd life for it. he named one of his swords after thor's hammer. Yes, a sword named after a hammer.

The last time I talked to him, he had just equipped a savage bolt 308 as a long distance shooter, and he was working out a name. He was leaning towards "devastator" but he also was thinking about "Darth Blaster."

I gotta tell you... your idea has one serious problem. The frame finish on older Airweights generally doesn't stand up to holsters very well, and it's difficult to replace a nice M12. :(

Hello carguychris & briandg,,,

Yeah, that's a valid point you make Chris,,,
But lately I've been less concerned about that factor.

Take my model 15 for example,,,
It's a pristine specimen and because of that,,,
I found myself leaving it at home as "too pretty to shoot".

But it's my favorite handgun of all time,,,
I didn't buy any of my handguns as investment pieces,,,
So more and more lately I've been ignoring the "keep it cherry" urge.

The people I name in my will,,,
They will have to put up with some usage wear. ;)

Devastator?,,,
Your friend has issues.

I name my guns after ladies,,,

I'm always happy to hear you took some guns out and have a good time...

I do not have a mod 12 or 15....( but if I trusted his reloads, I would have put them thru my S&W mod 19 first ...and then my S&W pre model 10 Victory .38 spl ) ........and I don't name my guns either...

I had my 4" S&W mod 27 nickel ...out for some entertainment yesterday .../ in and out of a holster.../ despite its beauty ...it was not hurt one little bit...

that's hard to believe.../ you might be a little eccentric...but you're still a member of our fraternity ...and I'll protect your honor !!

LOVE GIVES (fear resists)
LOVE FORGIVES (fear blames)
LOVE IS COMPASSIONATE (fear pities)
LOVE CHOOSES (fear avoids)
LOVE IS KIND (fear is angry)
LOVE IGNITES (fear incites)
LOVE EMBRACES (fear repudiates)
LOVE CREATES (fear negates)
LOVE HEALS (fear hurts)
LOVE IS MAGIC (fear is superstitious)
LOVE ENERGIZES (fear saps)
LOVE IS AN ELIXIR (fear is a poison)
LOVE INSPIRES (fear worries)
LOVE DESIRES (fear Joneses)
LOVE IS PATIENT (fear is nervous)
LOVE IS BRAVE (fear is afraid)
LOVE IS RELAXED (fear is pressured)
LOVE IS BLIND (fear is judgmental)
LOVE RESPECTS (fear disregards)
LOVE ACCEPTS (fear rejects)
LOVE DREAMS (fear schemes)
LOVE WANTS TO PLAY (fear needs to control)

Certainly not me, I wouldn't tease a guy because he named his guns. I own a buck hunter that once had a really gory encounter with a spider, and since that time, my wife has referred to it as sting, referring to the hobbit.

I'll make fun of you if you are totally defective and flaunt it, and that's about it. Even then, I'll cut you some slack, and never allow you to find out that I think you're an idiot.
