Shooting Bench

Hey guys i have recently found a spot to set up a 1-200 yard range for sighting in my rifles and i decided over the holiday weekend to build me a bench. so here it is. Tell me what you think or maybe some things to add in the future.

If I were to give a very positive compliment. Can I have the pooch Sir? Nice bench. Small fortune invested I see. Designed pretty good too. Level it up and you should be good to go. Only two things I would suggest. Like Stressfire mentioned earlier: a cup holder, perhaps? And a thick boat cushion taken along.
 
actually to be 100% honest this bench didnt break the bank. It looks like alot of material but i built it for right at 150. And that is all treated lumber. 6x6 for the legs and 2x6 for the frame and 5/4 board for the top. I have been debaiting on a seat cusion. it would raise me up a little bit plus make it more comfy.
 
I'm sure what ever you decide for a seat cushion will make the bench more comfortable for its shooter. Are you intending to carpet its table with some sort of stadium or boat decking carpet or is it going to the field in its natural wood state? However, you Sir should have the most accurate rifles in the County after spending a few weekends tweaking their accuracy. Off the top of your sturdy well designed shooting bench. "Good job. Well done Sir.."

Your bench is great, it looks very sturdy. One suggestion to prevent the front legs from loosing up during use and transportation. Put a brace connecting the front and back legs on both sides. You have done a excellent job.

i had thought about putting some type of brace for the front legs but once its in the ground its not necessary. I hadnt thought of putting any marine carpet on it but that might be a good idea. i didnt have a router to shave the edges down so they have some splinters hanging off of them. Its going to be permantly out side so natural wood works for me. But on a hot day with no clouds it dosent have much protection from the sun. and brian if we have a hurricaine in missouri i think we are all done for:p:p

Mine is two pieces of 3/4 marine plywood clamped into a Black and Decker WorkMate. I can carry it easily and set it up quickly. Not nearly as sturdy as yours, but the grandkids seem to like using it.

It's amazing how quick kids can go through a bulk pack of .22LR.
