Shooting Baikal's .30-06 double rifle

Looks pretty fun; I've been eyeing one in 45-70 for a while, pending even more rave reviews like this :)

I wish Baikal would make a drilling; even poorly regulated, they could make something functional for ~ 1/50th the cost of a gun with an Italian/German name. It's funny you mentioned it being light and hard kicking; I'd always been under the impression their guns were on the heavy side and a bit "robust" in their construction (most reviews are of their shotguns though, so that may be the cause for the weight criticism). I believe they made an O/U 12ga/30-06 for Remington at one point.

All I know is I like my MP161K, and wish to give those guys some more of my money in the future:cool:

I have tried the SbS, damn near impossible to get same aimpoint/hit point, my mate who owns it had to have a gunsmith do it, but it is a double rifle not a sniper rifle

what made my friend sell it even after a trip to the gunsmith, when it actually shot minute of pig atleast, was that he couldn't handload the 45-70 to the pressure he wanted, but he is spoiled with a nice ruger

James Bond is wielding a double rifle in the latest movie so maybe these will fly of the shelf and other makers will follow

I have watched some of your other videos to and I like them:)

if you got the double rifle bug, Gyttorp of sweden is making a O/U that is only a little bit more expensive then the baikal (atleast here)

but it sure doesn't have the classic rugged look of the baikal:D

8x57JRS och 444 Marlin, very uncommon round the marlin, over here that is, maybe aimed towards the us market?

dunno about that

1 very easy to show safe/unloaded: great for social hunts
2: fast reliable second shot
3: less maintanence then a semi

Husqvarna,

Thanks for the link. I prefer my doubles in SxS configuration, but that O/U double looked pretty neat. I've never seen one here in the U.S.

I got one of the 1st group of 45-70 SBS that came into the country... it's OK, not super nice, but is a SBS double... I had no trouble getting it to regulate both barrels with the jack screw adjustment they use on their guns... the gun can't take full pressure "hot" loads like my guide gun, but with a solid mid range load, I can get minute of dinner plate groups at 75 yards with both barrels, & in all honesty I haven't finished dialing it in... I expect I can tighten that up by 1/2... don't expect it'll be a 200 yard rifle, but should be a fine shooter at 75 yards
