Wondering if anyone knows of any areas (not ranges, more like state land?) where it's legal and safe to shoot, north of New York city. I seem to remember going somewhere upstate NY (maybe and hour or two north of the city) with my uncle when I was younger. I think it was state owned, and they had little cul-de-sacs off the main path where you could drive in, set up targets, and shoot. Can't for the life of me remember where it was. Anyone know of anything like that? I think it would be a nice switch from the range, getting to practice outdoors a bit. Thanks in advance!
