Shooting 22's

Dad and I have been playing with the 22's lately,he was needing some new scope rings on his Remington 550-1 due to an accidental drop.We get the new rings installed with his original Rhino 4 power scope he bought new when he purchased the 550-1 new back in 1954,as always with that old rifle I am amazed with the accuracy of that 550-1

Next thing I know Dad's pulling a couple more 22 rifles from his truck a Ruger 10/22 ss carbine and the rifle that really caught my attention a Remington 550-1 which looks nearly brand new,the bluing is 100% with no loss of blue even on the bolt ejector with very few scratches on the walnut stock looks like a keeper!
Back to the shooting we shot Dad's Remington 550-1 and that gun shot one ragged hole at 25yards :D His 550-1 will out shoot my Remington 552Bdl

So not to be out shot lol I had to bring out the serious paper puncher my Ruger 10/22 Target just to be able to keep up with the Rem 550-1 which is appox 56 years old?
That Ruger 10/22T is one sweet rifle even with bulk 22 ammo Federal bulk 550 value pack from Wally World

10 shot group at 25 yards I pulled that lower flyer shooting off a 4"x6" wood block on top of a wobbly picnic table :D
We sure had a good time with the 22's

.22’s are a whole bunch of fun, for just a little money. Best part about it, all the basic fundamentals apply, and can be transferred to a center fire rifle. Very good training.

Actually, the best part is shooting with your Dad. Enjoy it now. I miss my parents.

Thanks Mike I agree those 22's are a lot of fun and some great economical training for the centerfire rifles,as kids 22's and shotguns are all we could afford to shoot, the centerfire rifle just came out before whitetail season for a scope check and a little practice.
I also agree on enjoying parents and shooting with Dad who will be 70 in a couple months we've been fortunate enough to fish and hunt together now 42 years and Mom's still pretty spry at 71 years old
I can't shoot my centerfires right now I am recovering from back surgery,so we're just playing with the 22's and enjoying it :)

jhog1 Thank you 22's are a lot of fun :D...I haven't had a chance to get the Rem 550-1's pics. yet as soon as Pops comes back with them I will get a couple pics..I had a lower back disc removed and not driving much yet, don't tell the Doc I am shooting lol :D jkg.
