Hmmm...

a) It's obviously a shotgun, not a rifle.

b) The shooter is ejecting empty shells, not "unloading" the gun.

c) Given errors a and b, it's a fair bet that the shooter pictured is actually a member of the chemically-enhanced Bulgarian women's team and not a man, either. :D

Way to go, Reuters!

A shotgun is not a rifle, to my knowledge, until you rifle the barrel (slug gun). I know, I'm a nitpicky SOB.

Good to see we can still pull a few shooting medals though. The U.S. SHOULD own Olympic shooting sports. Sad state of affairs when the world's most armed country can't produce good shooters.

Cool picture, though!

Great TV coverage of all the shooting events,
eh?

Anyway, I'd rather watch a story about some athlete from Bungoslavia who had to eat rats to get to the Olympics.

Yes, I can imagine how times would be dramatically improved by WATCHING your ejected shells. I think that's a pretty sharp idea for personal defense, too. Watch the pretty brass in the air, oo!

I would have loved seeing 30 minutes of casings being ejected instead of hours and hours of beach bums playing in the sand or Ivy Leaguers rowing boats (I could have taken'em all with my 20hp Mercury and got my limit before they got away from the dock).

RKBA!

Maybe all the good American olympic shooters live in California and due to the oppression found there they can't compete to thier potential. LOL

Jeeze guys, it's a good thing she has ear and eye protection, but why stop there when you're tempting death with such vicous weapons like guns???? She should be wearing a full-faced racing helmet, and how about a bullet proof vest? Does she have on her elbow and knee pads? Shin guards? :D we never use hearing protection, or safety glasses, except at a while shooting the BIG guns, repeatedly, or at a range while it's required. But then again, maybe guns are just to dangerous all together.

"World's most armed country" You mean USofA? I don't think so, I think that honor goes to the Swiss or Israel.

Agreed. Even though the caption editor obviously doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground, it's still a cool pic.

Obviously they have the Gardening Editor covering this event. Rifle? No, not exactly. Cartridges?? Wrong again. Oh Well it is considered PC Chic to be ignorant on the forbidden subject of GUNS!

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

Reminds me of a segment I heard on NPR. Disclaimer: I'm not normally a listener. The commentator was talking about how hard it was for poor countries to win medals in the olympics. She said "a target rifle cost 3000 dollars, even without a PERISCOPE."

BTW, these are all great pictures.
