Shipping with gun cases

Happy Christmas Eve

I have a few hard cases for my nicer rifles and I never worry about them getting damaged while in transport or being shipped. My hard cases have the foam cutout so the guns never move.

I am getting ready to ship a bunch of parts to my gunsmith for a custom build. I plan on putting them in a Pelican case, but the foam will not be cut out.

Has any one had any experience with this? Do the parts stay put? I would hate for my scope and barrel to get together and have a party on the trip.

Any suggestions?

Wrap each part in a small dishrag or hand towel or old t-shirt.

Stuff can and will move around in cases without the cutouts.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I store a nice pair of SxS doubles in a large 2 rifle hard case. To prevent any possible contact, I place a piece of open cell foam insulation material (1"x1"x length of case) between the two. In other cases, I've used a couple of rolled shop rags placed at the most likely points of contact.
