Shipping rifle out of state via USPS w/out FFL?

I know that I can ship a rifle or a shotgun to an out of state FFL without haveing a FFL myself. But can I ship a rifle or shotgun out of state to an FFL via USPS?

Yes, an individual may ship via USPS to an FFL any long gun. Handguns via USPS are reserved for FFL to FFL only, and individual must use a common carrier.

Yes, Jeff is right. But I had a weird experience at my local PO. I sold a rifle at an on line auction and was shipping it to a FFL. When I got to the line the girl at the counter looked at the address and said loudly "this isn't a gun is it?" I looked around and it seemed like time stopped everyone stared, and you could hear a pin drop. Thinking slightly faster than a turtle, I knew I had disassembled it so that I could use a smaller box and I replied "no" it's just parts. I have no idea what level of hysterics she might have gone to if I had answered otherwise! Don't make a big deal out of it, lots of folks loose guns that way.
