Can I legally ship hi-cap magazines out of America? I never read anywhere whether it's legal or not. thanks in advance.

By Hi-Caps, do you really mean standard capacity magazines? ...as opposed to restricted capacity magazines. Please, let's not legitimize the anti-gunners inflamatory verbiage by using it ourselves. :)

nralife,
Actually, they ARE hi-caps. The mini-30 comes w/ a 5 rd magazine, 5 rds less than a klinton special holds. The thermolds are after-market 30-45's so in reality, they ARE hi-caps!

Depends on what firearm, i.e.:

Tec 9/Ingram/AB-10: Standard mags are 36 to 50rds.

AK/SKS: Standard are 30rd and 50rd

M15/M16: 30 to 50rd

P85: 15rd

USP: 13rd (.45)

Etc.. etc.. etc..

High caps would be anything over 2.9 million rds, but JMHO.

Locobob,

I don't know if I agree with you or not. The Ruger Mini 30 comes with restricted capacity magazines from the factory because that's the way old man Ruger wants it. He wants to be politically correct. You see, he only wants to be associated with so called sporting firearms. Actually he was more responsible for ten round limit on new mags than was Clinton. He testified before Congress that no one needed more than ten rounds in any kind of rifle. For his testimony his Mini 14 was put on the good gun list and wasn't banned like the nasty AR-15 was. Bill Ruger is not that good of a friend to gun owners. The only thing that he cares about is the bottom line.

nralife,
The ruger mini-30 always came with 5 rd mags. They never were shipped from the factory with a higher capacity mag that had to be cut back to the legal 10 rd limit after 9-13-94. ruger never made a 10, 20, or 30 rd mag for it.

The 5 rd. mag is the standard capacity.
30rd expandable to 45 rd IS A HI-CAP.

The Glock 17, now is a different story.
First, on 9-12-94, the G17 came from the factory with two 17 rd magazines. As of 9-13-94, the G17 came with two 10 rd mags. So, by my way of thinking, the 17 rd mags are the standard capacity. They are NOT hi-caps.

bill ruger, by the way, also asked congress to impose a 15 rd limit on handgun mags. The G17 and it's 17 rd mags took a big bite out of his growing P series pistols with it's 15 rd mags. Congress wasn't satisfied with 15 and instead opted for 10. ruger cut off his nose to spite his face.

Now, back to the original reason I posted: Can I legally ship Thermold 30-45 mags out of the country? I will not buy a ruger firearm in this lifetime and have no use for them. I need to know if I can ship them to a foriegn country, i.e.; Germany?
