Shipping FFL requirements?

Howdy All,,
I am wondering what documents are required for shipping an out of state firearm to a locale gun shop and what are the procedures to accomplish this feat? I'm looking at possibly purchasing a rifle from an auction online and I've no idea about how to get it shipped to a locale gun shop. I will go visit the local gun shop for clearance before I buy the rifle so I'm just looking for a heads up on this, trying to get some homework done if you will. Any insight from you folks out there would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends on what the receiving FFL wants. The ones I've used have only wanted enough information to ID the firearm as mine, so they know who to call when it arrives. Pretty simple. Make sure the FFL will receive from an individual, if that's who's sending it. Some want everything shipped from another FFL.

Use the "Find an FFL" feature on Gunbroker.
Then contact the dealers in your area to confirm that they still accept transfers (GB does a terrible job of keeping their list current) and what the cost will be as well as any other instructions.

The seller will ship the firearm to your dealer, who will transfer it to you.

The seller usually makes this call regardless of the firearm. In your case, a copy of your FFL's license, signed and current date. Most FFL dealers have these copies readily available and usually will sign and date it when you go in to get this copy. Just mail it off with your payment to the seller. Make sure the seller clearly puts your name on the package to assist your dealer. when it comes in, you will do the transfer and likely pay a fee.

Be Safe !!!

Make SURE your receiving FFl will accept a gun, even if the seller/shipper may NOT be a FFL - some will not - it isn't illegal, but some won't do it

I just shipped a handgun to CA to the buyer's FFL - I included a copy of my DL for them; otherwise it went great

Buyer sent me the money as PO money orders, his FFL emailed a color copy of the FFL, I sent the handgun to his FFL with my ID inside. Because it was a handgun (and a VERY expensive one) I went with Fedex
NO issues at all

I have used Fedex ground for rifles before as well as USPS but I like Fedex because of better tracking

I appreciate the responces and info. I've never purchased a rifle online before, so this is pretty new to me. I'm looking forward to closing this deal.
