From what I've gathered, guns made prior to 1898 are considered antiques and don't require FFL transfer for interstate shipping. I'm interested in a gunbroker auction that sells a gun as antique, to be shipped directly. My question is, can I as the receiver be held responsible if the seller is mistaken in his antique classification? It's from the time, but I wouldn't stake my legal life on it being prior to 1898 without a lot more research.
