Ship shotgun choke tubes to Ireland?

My cousin in Ireland would like to purchase five choke tubes for his legally owned shotguns. They are much cheaper when purchased in the USA, and I am happy to buy them here and ship them to him. My question is, is it legal to ship them to an EU country? He thinks so since they are not integral parts, but we both want to make sure it is legal first.

Anyone here familiar with Ireland/EU law on such matters?

I would not ever ship any gun or ammunition part or accessory out of the US without being licensed to do so. I've seen folks think it is okay and get put through the ringer. Just not worth the risk.

Even if legal, by the time you pay the fees, not economically worth it...which is why the parts cost more when US parts are bought overseas.

Interesting question, so I looked into it. The only thing I could come up with is from the web site myus.com which is an international shipping broker. The list of items that can not be shipped internationally is long, and includes:

Firearms, guns & accessories, including replicas.

I would say that shotgun choke tubes would be considered a firearm accessory, so can not be shipped.

There are FFLs who have experience shipping internationally. Gunbroker.com used to keep a list of them, although I have not checked that recently. I suspect you could pay one them to do the shipping.

Thanks all for your input! I have decided not to proceed with this sticky wicket. Neither I nor my cousin desire to break or bend any regulations, and the subject is just too complex for us to fully understand and to take any risk.
