Shifting P.O.I. with Hand-All?

Last week I got a Hogue Hand-all in the mail and put it on my USP40c, which could use a little help when hottish loads are the diet. I had been hitting exactly where I aimed the pistol and this morning I went to the range to give it run and was surprised to find that my groups were low (about 4-5") and to the left (about 4-5"). They were in the same place as my nephew's groups ... low and left. Well, I scratched my head and shot a few more groups low and left and then pulled the Hand-all off and ... pop ... the point of impact went right back to the center of the target. I'm stumped! Any ideas what was happening?

I don't think it's the handall's fault unless you're shifting your grip at the moment you fire and pulling your sights off. Aligned sights with a target should put the bullet there if the sights are properly set. The problem I had with the handall, had them on a Glock .40 and on my USP45, was that during firing, the danged gun would want to spin in my hand. for some reason, the recoil wanted to shift both of these guns to the left. Hand and handall would stay pointing straight and the guns would be pointing left after firing a magazine's worth of rounds. Sounds like you better leave it off. If you want a cushioned grip, try tennis racket wrap. Can make it as thick as you want and it won't move. Plus, it's cushiony enough to make your hand feel like it's got a custom finger grooved grip. But, you better have BIG hands. :D

The grip is your interface with the gun.
The way you grip your gun makes all the difference as it can effect the way recoil is absorbed, the way to pull the trigger and the way your gun naturally wants to sit in your hand.
I'ld recoment removing the slip on grip altogether. The USP can benifit from a little sanding of the "checkering" or trying the other slip on type grips available.
Or - try Gloves.
Thats sumthin not talked about very much - but Gloves can work wonders. Especially the kind OJ used. Meaning the thin and suple leather type - not garden work gloves.
Gloves that let you retain a lot of tactile feel can improve your grip, lessen recoil and all these other things - like jacking the slide, reloading a magazine and othe rsuch things.
