Shield rear sight removal

I'd like to remove the rear sight on my Shield so I can work the striker block to finish the trigger tune up. I've watched Apex's and other videos on how to remove the rear sight. The set screw was easy as it came out with the soldering iron heat. The sight itself seems "welded" in. I made a holder for the slide so the vice would not damage it. I wasted two brass punches and it still won't move. I tried a steel punch but stopped when it started to leave a mark on the sight's finish. I didn't really want to spend more $$ on a sight pusher. Has anyone else had success on removing one?
Thanks
E.

I started with a 3/8" wood working spade bit and custom ground it to fit the Shield's dovetail. Wrapped it with masking tape, secured the slide in a sturdy bench vise and kept the spade bit square to the sight while tapping it with a hammer. No marks on the sight.
