Shield 9mm slide grittiness

I purchased a Shield 9mm new yesterday from a local gunshop

Just finished cleaning it to get all the factory oil and funk off of it

But I noticed an issue when I pulled the slide back to lock it

There seemed to be a bit of friction and a gritty feeling when it is about 2/3 the way back

Broke it down didn't notice much weird, not sure if it is a common problem or what to look for

Anybody have the same issue?

I just pulled my Shield out of the safe. What you feel is the dual recoil spring in the last stage of compressing.

Ahh. Thank you, makes sense seeing as I only really experience it when I draw the slide back slowly versus normally when I am going to load a round.

Yes definitely recoil spring. I bought a shield right after they came out and never had that problem. But after the no safety model came out I had to have one of those because I hate safeties. I played with one in LGS that was so bad it would almost hold itself open it was grinding so bad. I made them go get me another one and it wasn't nearly as bad. Upon inspection you could tell that the recoil spring was a little bent causing the gritty feeling. Bought my gf one also and hers was the same way. Both of them are stone cold reliable though so I guess all is well.
