Shell length

New to shotguns. Have older single barrel shotgun, and double barrel shotgun from 1930's - 1940's. Will modern 12 guage shells fit these? Single barrel says 3" mod on barrel. Will it accept 3 " shells and smaller? Don't know how this works...

Yep, no problem. If it's marked on the barrel for 3" shells, than 3" and shorter will work. To the gray beards here, guns from the 1930 and 40s are modern guns.

Now, is it strong enough for you to feed it some 3" buckshot? That might be a different story than a moderate goose load

Not sure why...I'm not going to jam it muzzle first into the mud...I just have 2 3/4 quail shot for it...
