Student arrested, threatened with expulsion over bomb essay.

On a State exam (Standards of Learning essay exam, creative writing), a student penned a ficitional story about a fictional student gifing his fictional school with a nuclear bomb. Chris Bullock, 16, was arrested on May 14, 2 months after his essay was written (and pre-Columbine) after test readers grew alarmed at the content. He was charged with threatening to bomb a school. There was no comment from authorities at Tallwood High School (Bullock's school) as they haven't seen the essay.

So its come to this folks. Orwell's thought police are in charge and harassing children for following instructions to be creative on a creative writing exam.

Ain't new.

Over on GlockTalk, there's a post about a kid in Maryland who got expelled for drawing a picture of a gun and showing to his classmates. School board's wimpy-assed excuse is that they were strictly adhering to the "No Weapons Dammit!" policy.

To quote the snooty waiter in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off": I weep for the future.

How does it become a man to behave toward this American government to-day?
I answer, that he cannot without disgrace be associated with it.
