Serial number range of a Polytech M14

According to a friend, the first Polytech M14 clones were imported in 1988. How would I find out when the gun with a serial number in the 10xxx range came in?
 
Preban serial

Hello,
I had a Poly , it had a serial 0585X
and it was preban , it had the Flash suppressor & Lug
i have seen other Poly's that had a brake the flutes on it was solid
sorry cant be more help . one way is to check who imported it
they may still be around .
