Sequester the Electoral College?

Sequester the Electoral College?

Well, this is a he@@uva action to (even have to) think about - but...

I can think of a couple reasons to think about it:

1. PRO: With all the current and future hullabaloo and the possibility of overt temptations, this almost sounds plausible;

2. CON: First Amendment rights of the electors could be infringed.

Dec 17th is not all that far away. How can we be assured that the pressure of the times doesn't affect their voting???

Anyone have thoughts?

Even when Bush wins FL, I would be VERY surprised if Gore does not poison the electoral votes - there are 25 states in which, no matter the popular vote, electors may vote their "conscience". I'm sure Gore will help them vote their "wallet" or "politically favored future". This thing won't be over until they vote in December (17th I believe).

Hope the electors figure out that the cheapest way for Gore not to keep any promises to them is Vince Foster treatment...

And if we "sequester" them, who do you think will be responsible for their "safety and security"? Janet and Louis, that's who. That would be tantamount to giving one side only unlimited access to them.

This, I think, is not a good idea.
