Senate ready to implement inline sales tax

Hmm, been awhile since Econ 101, is it still considered capitalism if the law is used to "level the playing field," thereby effectively neutralizing competition in the marketplace?

This will be interesting to see how it affects on-line gun sales where, in many cases, the savings difference was the sales tax

Sales tax, plus a few bucks extra usually. LGS near me will usually deal down to Bud's-type prices, but the sales tax is a bit of a killer. Cost of doing business to support local shops, I suppose

It's been coming for a while, it was just a matter of when. The revenue problems by states are helping to force the issue.

I'm not sure how much they'll affect my firearm purchases. For ammo and accessories, of the three places I use, one is in my state so I pay sales tax anyway. It isn't often when the sales tax is what pushes me over the edge on which vendor to use for a given item. For guns, I usually go for my LGS unless it is something that just isn't able to be ordered (like a used gun that isn't available through his distributors). IMO, the service I receive there is worth not just the higher price, but the sales tax as well.

Even though it will affect firearm sales along with every other type of sale, this subject is not on topic for TFL. Closed.
