Senate Bill SB 2099

This had to have been posted already, but if not: Senate Bill 2099 is in Congress now and pertains to registering handguns on your income tax filings.

It HAS been posted before, and the bill's intent is to regulate registration and transfer of handguns the same as full-auto (class III) firearms, using BATF to enforce it.

If I recall, I think that bill will go nowhere, at least this year.

TRAP933 - Welcome to The Firing Line. You'll find that this is a friendly place with plenty of lively discussion.

This topic has been discussed here in about five different threads in the past thirty days or so. Here are the links to the existing threads: http://www.thefiringline.com:8080/forums/showthread.php?threadid=25595 http://www.thefiringline.com:8080/forums/showthread.php?threadid=25600 http://www.thefiringline.com:8080/forums/showthread.php?threadid=25613 http://www.thefiringline.com:8080/forums/showthread.php?threadid=25662 http://www.thefiringline.com:8080/forums/showthread.php?threadid=26001

I can't bring myself to lock a new member's first thread, so I'll use this to introduce you and many others to the search function here on TFL.

On most pages you will see a "search" link at the top of a page on the right side. If you click it, you can enter your information and search any forum for any subject. I entered 2099 and searched the Legal forum for the past 30 days to find the list above.

It's a good idea to do a search when you want to post a new topic to see if it is already ongoing. If so, then you can post your comments to the existing thread where everybody can find them all in one place.

If I had done a search on the government's antitrust lawsuits, I would never have posted this little gem. :o Obviously it's also a good idea to entitle your thread with a subject name that is indicative of it's actual subject. Try not to use topic names like Check this out!!! or WOW.

OK, lecture's over, we now return you to your regularly scheduled Legal/Political Forum. :)
