Indirectly related to the right to bear arms but of interest nonetheless. Time to ban "high capacity staircases", I suppose.

Sen. Feinstein has broken left leg, needs surgery

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat, broke her left shinbone while vacationing in Colorado last weekend and will need surgery in the coming days, her office said Tuesday.
In a statement, the office said Feinstein, 67, slipped on some stairs during the Labor Day holiday weekend and sustained a "compound fracture of her left tibia."
"She has now returned to Washington and has discussed the injury with Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle and will schedule the surgery so that she is available for as many crucial votes as possible," Feinstein's office said in a statement.
The Republican-led House and Senate returned to work this week, and lawmakers are scrambling to finish the budget and several other priority bills by mid-October.
No date had yet been set for Feinstein's surgery.

Compound fracture? That must have hurt something awful. Your splintered bone, pale white, jutting through your flesh. That's terrible....really. :rolleyes:

i wonder what the result would be, if we all sent her a sincere get well soon card?

can you imagine the mind game of all of us being nice to her? what if she got more cards from us then any other group?

Of course Thomas Jefferson would have to be on the front of the card with the second amendment.

i wonder if this injury is going to hurt her re-election campaign?

Interesting idea, dZ. But she's a politician. There's not a mind game she hadn't heard of, nor one she hasn't played, what with her entire life based upon the hypocrisy of the Washington elite.
 
I wish her the best and hope she gets back to campaigning for Gore. Before you flame me, lots of folks don't like her and might justr vote for GW because of her connection to Gore.

Where are those real life accident cams when you need one ? I wonder if she realizes how close she just came to being in the not so happy place ?
 
As much as I detest thievery, if hkg3 is permitted to perform surgery, I am willing to: Commit a federal crime by breaking into a National Park Site, stealing a genuine Civil War Surgeon's kit, FedEx it to hkg3 along with some period (OK, only 1776) surgical instructions.

hkg3 in turn must promise not to consult with modern anesthegiologists, surgeons, doctors, nurses, or even veternarians. Any assistants must be recruited from the N-SSA (North South Skirmish Association) or equivalent Civil War Reeancting group. No sterilization other than throwing water onto the kitchen table will be permitted. Since we're compassionate, can somebody donate some whiskey and a lead minie ball for the patient? Any extra whiskey may be consumed by Dr. hkg3 and his assistants prior to performing the operation.

A large number of get-well cards will not be treated as sincere or even sincere attempts to be kind for ulterior motives--they'll be treated as sneering, sarcastic gloating and trumpeted as evidence of the mean-spirited state of American politics.
 
I think gangreen has set in we'll have to amputate at the neck! I have a rusty saw around here somewhere. Think of the publicity she'll get if hkg3 offers to perform the surgery free. She will no longer be free-loading off of the tax-payers. She might even get re-elected by a landslide. Course we'd have to rig up some kind of electical connection to keep the jaws moving so that she will appear to be doing something, ok so that would be better than at least 80% of our congresscritters! Doesn't the Lord work in mysterious ways!

After the surgery do you think that she may lean more to the right? ;) I doubt if she could stand with any more leaning to the left surgically induced.
