I have a nagant revolver which i never shoot, I just got it for the history behind it I never thought i was much of a revolver fan, but i just traded one of my 91/30s for a Heritage rough rider with varies types of ammo. I havent shot it yet but i have read many reviews and most said it was a great little gun. After playing with it though and watching reviews I have found myself wanting something Higher quality like a ruger. Which Ruger would you guys recommend? I was thinking something in .357, 44mag, or 45LC

357. Can use the relatively cheap/mild .38s, or the 357s.
I prefer a double action over single action. Make this recommendation just as a first revolver.

Yeah I knew 357 could shoot 38 that was one of the main reasons i want one. I like single action as it has that western feel and most guns just seem to have nicer SA trigger pulls

Hard to beat a .357 revolver for versatility and Ruger makes some good SA revolvers.

The New Vaquero has a great feel-it's sized to mimic a Colt SAA but its fixed sights are not as versatile (or as visible to my eyes) as adjustable sights.

Ruger currently offers the Blackhawk in .357 but it's a large frame for a .357. Also the blued Blackhawks have an aluminum grip frame that some folks like but I don't care for it.

There was a run of 50th Anniversary Blackhawks some time back; they have the smaller "midsized" cylinder and frame of the New Vaquero (the grip frame is steel) and adjustable sights. I think that's a crackerjack wheelgun; one of these days I'm going to get a couple. You can find them on the used market.

When I got into shooting some years back a double action .357 was "the" gun. They are still as good as ever although there are fewer good revolvers being made these days.

Find a store with a nice selection of Ruger SA revolvers and fondle them till you find one that’s irresistible.

There’s no doubt the .357/.38 version is very handy and in some models can be had with a 9mm convertible cylinder but my preference would be the .45 Colt configuration which in some models can found with a .45 ACP convertible cylinder.

Check out the Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks, Vaqueros, and try the Bisley grips and the Birdshead grips models.

It would really be hard to go wrong with any of the Ruger offerings.

I just got my first revolver a few months back. Ruger GP 100 and I love it. Very comfortable in my hand and very accurate.

Ruger GP100 4" barrel. This model is a GP-141.

Oh man you done got the fever. I was following your mosin for Ruger trade thread. It didn't take long for the sickness to hit you. hit me years ago too.

Go ahead and give up trying to fight. You will need one of each.

First get a 357 DA like a Ruger GP101 or S&W 686

then get a Ruger Vaquero in 45 colt.

Then get a Super Blackhawk in 44 mag

Then get a J Frame 38sp.

Oh yeah, you need to start reloading too ;)
