Semi Auto 1919

I am thinking about pruchasing a semi auto 1919 from TNW. (see link)
http://www.ados.com/~jack278/

It is available in both .30-'06 and .308.

I am wondering about pros and cons for each, to include cost, effective range, availability, etc.
Any comments appreciated

I believe there's a couple of us collectors here that have got one.
Go ahead, you only live once, and you'll love it. :)
Believe it or not, you can get a 480 rpm rate out of the TNW! :D
Just don't forget to make a Trunion cover/plate out of some .020-.025 aluminum, it'll keep the Trunion from wearing too thin.

The trunion block is the area in front that the belt of fresh rounds lays on waiting to be fed into the chamber. When the extractor pulls a round out of the belt/links, there is pressure put on the trunion block. Eventually this action will wear down the trunion, and once it wears down to .010", it's time to replace the trunion block.
On the Semi-autos, the trunion block is welded to the right sideplate, and cannot be replaced very easily. :(
Using the thin aluminum is cheap insurance, when it wears through, just grab some good scissors and cut ya' another cover. :D

IMHO, .308/7.62 is easier and cheaper to come by, and you WILL burn up lots of ammo. ;)

I've been wanting one since pre-Y2K! With the completion of my latest project, this one could be a winner!

Just as an aside, I still remember telling my G/F when I got my Garand, "Wow, now I'm DONE." WRONG! I'll never be "done".

NEXT! :D
anodes.
