Selling a High Cap Magazine

Is it legal to sell a high capacity magazine online?

I have an original Sig P226 15rd 9mm mag to sell. Does anyone know what the rules might be on selling. I have heard California may be an exception.

I just want to be sure I dont create a problem for myself.

Thanks for any replies.

The feds don't care about it anymore. It all depends on the state. I'm pretty sure that you can't sell it in or to anyone in California. You also can't technically sell it to anyone in New York City. It's not that it's banned, it's that NYC law only allows gun owners to get mags from dealers.

There are probably a few other states you need to be watch out for.

Cali, Hawaii, Mass, NY all limit magazines to 10 rounds.

I don't think any other states require special transfer procedures for 15-rnd magazines. But I'm not sure.

(NJ limits to 15 rounds; Maryland to 28 rounds)

Thank you for the replies.

It seems like it may be safer if I just trade it off at the next local gun show instead of trying to sell online.

Go to a regular online retailer (midwayusa, sportmansguide, etc) and see what the their state restriction is on that magazine. Someone mentioned NJ was ok with 15 rounders, I'm not sure I thought it was 10 for handgun, but I could be wrong.
