Selling a gun 'as-is'

I have a savage model 24, break barrel .22/.410 rifle, minus the barrel selector switch and the firing pin. Stupid friends. The gun is in perfect condition other wise, I've toyed with the idea of fixing it but I got it for free so I don't really care what I can get for it. There is a PF9 at the local pawn for 219 otd. I've looked the savage up on gunsamerica and a working can fetch upwards of 400 and even more, so what would be reasonable for mine? The parts to fix it are under 40 bux. Would this be worth putting on gunsamerica? Or here?

Some things I would consider before buying a weapon like that.
- If I can't fix it myself, how much is a gunsmith going to cost me?
- How much time is this going to cost me?

Those two things will make it difficult to sell for going price minus the cost of parts. Couldn't tell you what price I'd be willing to pay. I'm in a similar situation and I'm either going to get the gun fixed (firing pin is out of alignment on a Marlin 60A) or take a drubbing and just sell it to a friend who is also a dealer.

A gun that doesn't work....

isn't worth anything, except as parts, or, (if rare) to a collector. And even a collector who is drooling for one won't give as much if its missing parts/not working.

Personally, I think the pawn shop guy might offer you $40, maybe.....
Because he's only going to be interested in guns that he can sell, and guns missing parts/not working don't sell very well, or for very much.

Good luck though....

Personally, I'd get the parts, and if needed, have a smith fix it. Then, at least it will be worth something....

Why get anything for it? Spend the $40, fix it, and you have a nice little gun for $40 and an hours work.
Saying that, if you're in desperate need of a few hundred bucks, the investment of $40 to make a few hundred is a good investment.

I just took a cursory glance at the 24s on GB. The ones with bids (which are the only ones that count) that are in the $350 and up range are 22 WM, one exception being a very nice .22, collectable older gun at $275 with a undisclosed reserve and no "buy it now". The current bid has not met reserve... and may not before close of auction.
If yours is not as the above discribed, then it's the same, or will be once fixed, as all the other .22s that have bids of around $200.

Cheers,
C

Either hang on to it and look for the missing parts, or part it out. If you just don't like the gun - have no interest in it, then just part it out.
