I have some steel knock down targets from Challenge Targets we shoot on my friend’s property and love them. However, my local outdoor range will not allow steel targets and I shoot there more than my friend’s property so I thought I’d try making some knockdown targets out of some Self Sealing Targets I have, PVC and a 2x2 board based off the Challenge Targets.
I purchased the Self-Sealing Targets from Walmart for I think $25.00 which are 10” and I already had the PVC and fittings but I’d say I have roughly $15.00 in PVC pipe and fittings.
You can lock the stand upright or remove the locking pin to knock it down and use string to pull it upright. I ran the tent stakes through the cord in front and back to hold it in place. It also has a forward lean adjustment to require multiple shots to knockdown.
The 2x2 will get shot up but they are cheap and easy to replace. I wrapped Gorilla tape around the top of the 2x2 to help hold it together some. Surprisingly it does help, some.
No satisfying Ding but more fun then paper.

8 feet - 3/4“ PVC Pipe
6 - 3/4“ PVC Tees
8 - 3/4“ PVC 45 Elbows
4 - 3/4“ PVC End Caps
2 Bolts 1- 6” & 1 -4”, 4 Washers, 2 Nuts, 1 Wing Nut and 1 Eyelet
String, cord or rope (Length is whatever the longest distance you are shooting from.)
2 Tent Stakes
Directions
Cut 4 - 6” pieces of PVC pipe
Cut 2 - 12” pieces of PVC pipe
Cut 2 - 4” pieces of PVC pipe
Cut 4 - 1.5” pieces of PVC pipe (Used to connect End Cap fittings together.)
Cut 3 – 1.75” pieces of PVC pipe (Used to connect Tees and Pivot Mechanism together together.)
