Self Defense stories

Ok so there is a lot of discussion on the board about carrying a weapon or keeping one in your home for personal/home defense. Does anyone have any real life experience using a gun (firing or simply brandishing) for personal or home defense that they can share with the group?

let's hear 'em!

Happened when I was in my mid 20's (read: way before CCW) I had a little J frame 38 that I kept tucked away in various places around my body and home. One night riding down the street with a GF this car with 3 or 4 guys pulls alongside and begins making less than flattering remarks to the GF. I took a quick right to get away, they U turn and follow. Next light they pull up beside us and one guy gets out and starts toward the door. He reaches for the handle and I showed him the wrong end of the little .38. His eyes go as big as saucers and he just stands there. Light is now green so I leave, never saw them again......... Thank God.......

Haven't you ever heard the saying:
walk softly and carry a big stick

Of course you can interpret this in many ways but maybe some members are not so talkative when it comes to having to use their side arm.

I believe another possibly appropriate saying that might apply:
discretion is the better part of valor

It's like the old saying.

"You can kiss your guns every night before going to sleep, just don't go shooting your mouth off about it."
:D

Maybe I have found a new signature. ^,^

:) Well, there is this one story about me and the six cannibal zombies. It happened last winter while I was visiting St. Croix in the Caribbean. The story starts out like this: 'Once upon a time on a quiet little island floating in an azure sea ... '

Oh, darn, somehow I just can't bring myself to tell this horrible, incredibly bloody story on the internet.

Sorry! ;)

My job back in the 80s required a lot of travel, which meant a lot of nights
in hotels/motels. And I don't mean fleabag joints, I'm talking about good
quality Inns. (I won't mention any names of those Inns.)

I remember three incidents in particular, and there may be a few more,
when someone with a key opened the door to my room and tried to enter.
I don't know if it was the door opening, the slamming of the door against
the safety chain, or the person outside kicking the door that woke me,
but every time, something did, and all three times I was at the door with
the muzzle of a Colt 1911A1
stuck through the crack at just about face-level.

I stuck the muzzle through the door-crack and yelled,
(I don't remember what) and every time, the person outside went away.

A couple of times I called the desk clerk and reported what had happened,
but all they ever did was apologize for the inconvenience, so I didn't
bother after that. I'm just glad I never had to pull the trigger.

A few weeks ago a gang member came up to my Uncle's window as my Uncle was parked in a parking lot at the store. My Uncle is an old s#it kicker and not afraid of anything.... The gang member asked my Uncle if he had any money, and my Uncle replied - yep I have a pocket full of money. The gang member told him - I'll be needing some, and my Uncle put his Glock in the guys face and calmly asked - how much do you want.
The guy ran off as fast as he could, and my Uncle drove away safely with his granddaughter and himself intact and unharmed.
