selection based on barrel length.....

What with the variations available in bbl length; 3", 31/2" 4", I am confused as to performance, accuracy, etc. I'm referring to compact .45 concealables in new and used availabilities.

Any REAL difference regarding their length?
Is there a cycling reliability factor?
Simply a marketing choice?

Caveats, wisdom and experience welcome.:)

It has been said that 5" is the ideal barrel length for the 45ACP cartridge. That being said, the closer you get to 5", the better off you will be performance wise. Most people will sacrafice some performance for better concealability.

How do you conceal your firearms? IWB or on the belt? If you conceal it IWB, the 5" barrel isn't an issue.

Performance out of a full size 1911 will generally be better because of the longer sight radius and extra velocity.

I carry one daily and have no problems with concealment. The right holster and GUN BELT is the key.
