Seeking Tokarev Expert Advice

I have a Tok, Polish not Chinese. The safety put on for import is different than that on the Chinese. It is located directly above the mag. release and blocks the trigger.

My question involves the basic design. Is this pistol provided with an inertial firing pin or does the hammer being down mean that the pin is protruding?

In essence what I want to know is what are the problems with storing this in a fixed cabinet with the hammer down on a loaded chamber?

Your advice will be appreciated.

The firing pin will touch the primer if the hammer is down. They are not safe to carry with a round in the chamber.

The little halfcock or intercept notch WILL NOT keep it from firing if it is droped.

Cornbread is right that it's dangerous to keep the hammer down on a loaded chamber.

I'm thinking, though, that a few years ago someone was offering a kit that had a partially reduced diameter firing pin (shorter, too) and a spring that replaced the stock firing pin, the combination of which removed the danger..

I'll be darned if I can remember any particulars about it, though.

Thanks for the Info

Thanks very much for the information. It confirmed what I thought I remembered. In this case the Tok will remain cased with a magazine in and an empty chamber.

It is a sweet heart with a 38 Super, 9 mm and original barrels and shoots all 3 well.
