Seecamp 380

Ken-
I haven't seen the letter. I was told by a reliable source in December that Seecamp was going to allow people who had an order in for 32s change their order to 380 if they liked. I hear 2nd hand that one of the local gun stores here did exactly that, and as of about 2 weeks ago, were expecting to get 5 or so Seecamp 380s this summer.
I've shot the 380. It ain't no plinking pistol. Still, if I didn't have a 32, I might be tempted.

i got the letter at the shop and i get the feeling that if there 32 bussiness goes to hell with all the new rave of 32 that are on the market that they will start making the .380.if there sales continue to be acceptable for the .32 then dont expect to see the .380.i talked to someone that had shot one of the prototyps at the shot show and he said it was a real bitc@@@ to hold onto and he felt that the .32 was more controlable in such a small package/....

I read a magazine article a while back that said the list price on the .380 would be $850. Anyone care to hazard a guess on what it will actually sell for? John

ill bet about $2000 or so.i see the .32s out there for 650 and up.i order 5 every time i get in an order and have never sold them below $1000.it takes almost 4 years now to get a .32

How can they justify that kind of price? When the Kel-Tec P-32 will do everything the Seecamp will do and in some case even more. In a lighter weight package too. Yuppies and their money, you gotta love it, if your are on the selling end.

i snd that one 7th fleet the keltec is a bargain and a great gun as long as you feed it hollowpoints.they dont like ball ammo as a general rule.

Since the CNC equipment was installed at Seecamp and the pressure from the Guardian, Autauga, and KelTec as competitors in the market came to be, we have seen the Seecamp drop in price. Gun List reguarly has them at $650 and the at San Antonio gun show they could be had for $600 out the door. I suspect that they could easily be in the $500 - $550 range by now or by this summer. Glenn, how about checking with the Seecamp lady at the next SA show for us.

Like Jeff OTMG said, they can be had for $550-$650 NIB- no waits at all. There is no doubt that the introduction of the several models of 32's has put a bit of a dent in Seecamp's business. I do happen to think though that the Seecamp is a slick piece, if I lived in a CCW state- I would probably get one.

I have an NAA Guardian and a Keltec .32. The Keltec, while being much lighter, has significantly less apparent recoil. Since the Seecamp .380 is not any bigger than the Guardian, I doubt I'd be that tempted to own one, I too think it would be hard to hang on to. I've done a similar comparison between my Colt Pocketlite Mustang and the Sig P230. Even though the Sig was heavier and bigger, it's apparent recoil is signficantly more than the Mustang.

See this month's American Handgunner for a complete story, but it seems that they are in production, they are letting those with backorder postions upgrade to the .380 if they like, so getting one this year will be a matter of luck and who you know. Given that the MSRP on the .32 is $450, anything above that is what the your local dealer figures the market will bear (that's not a slam, just an observation, I'm all for profitable gunshops).

The retail price is a question of scarcity and snob appeal, as clearly the Keltec .32 does everything the Seacamp does and is more tolerant of a variety of ammo, and there's a good selection of little .39=80's already on teh market. FWIW, I've only held one, seems like a REAL nice little gun, value is in the eye of the beholder, YMMV. M2
