Security Six

Is the Ruger Security Six capable of handling +p and +p+ rounds? My uncle who worked for the sheriff's dept. had a bunch of ammo left over that he gave me and of course it is all self-defense ammo. I really just want to use it for trget/plinking. At least there was 250 rounds of hydra-shok in the lot.:) Thanks for your help.

You bet'cha. According to Ruger's factory reps, all Ruger
firearms are "proof tested" with loads that run 30%
above normal.:D  :)

Shoot to your heart's content. My Security Six has been fed a steady diet of +p and it is as tight as the day I bought it.

Your Security Six should take anything the "N" frame 27 and 28 S&W can take. I put some helatious reloads through mine. A good strong gun. I'm mad because they discontinued it for the GP-100.

You betcha. Ruger revolvers absorb the most abuse of any and if the Security Six in mind is a .357, it will easily handle a steady diet of +p+.

+p loads are what i would shoot through it to prolong its service life...i'd fed my last SS a steady diet of .357 mag loads (CCI 140gr jhp).

from a durability standpoint, of handling .357mag loads, i would rank the ruger clearly above the m-19 and about on par with the L-frame.
