security six spitting

I have a police trade in security six that is nice tight gun, but problem with 357 ammo. With 357 it spits what I think is powder, esp after a few cylinders are shot. No problem with 38 special loads. Any suggestions? thanks.

Check the timing and also the barrel/cylinder gap. Look at the face of the forcing cone and see if it is primarily spitting to one side only, as that is definitely a timing problem.

Powder n flames normal.
Bullet metal not.

One test is to fire with clean piece of paper beside the gun..bout 6" or so away....cylinder gap bout even with center of paper. Do it with each side. Do it with each side and each cylinder if bein really nosy about it. Should get powder, burns but NO metal fragments in paper.

Can just tape paper to bench and hold gun sideways (gangsta style) over the paper.

Be sure to point gun at something you want to shoot when doin this.
