Seating die for 300 blackout flat-nose bullets?

I picked up a couple of boxes of 215 grain coated Missouri bullets for 300 BO sub-sonic loads. I'm having trouble seating them to a consistent OAL. I believe this is because my Hornady 300 BO seating die has only stems made for very pointy tipped bullets.

Only the very edge of the flat-nose of the Missouri bullets contacts the seating stem and this isn't very solid. Does anybody know where I could get a seating die that will make good contact with the nose of these things?

I noticed my Lee .308 seating die has a stem that looks like it could be installed upside-down and provide a flat surface. Are their 300 BO seating dies like that too?

Most dye manufacturers offer alternative seating stems, usually at very attractive prices. In fact redding sent me THREE seating stems free of charge once. Send and email and ask if they offer other stems.

Yes, the Lee BLK die has the same type of stem you describe although mine has a small nub on the flat end where it was parted off on a lathe. That would need cleaned up.

This may sound stupid, but did you actually try using the seater with the bullet and get a failure?

I like having a tapered seating die because it centers the bullets while a flat punch can cause it to go in poorly. Even so, that issue may not even matter.

I suggest that you look at the Lee catalog to see if they they make one. Then try to find one. You can contact them and see if they suggest subbing another plug. I think that you can sub another plug quite easily.

If everything else fails, grind a tapered plug flat.
